Palm Springs hosts a variety of festivals, art shows, gay & lesbian events, concerts, family activities and more throughout the year. Here's a glimpse of what's happening in Palm Springs from season to season.

Festivals and fairs abound with splendor and true delight when the springtime rolls around! Every March, the La Quinta Arts Festival features a remarkable display of paintings, crafts, sculptures and artistically profound wonders of sheer magnificence from across the globe. Also in March is Dinah Shore Weekend. This four-day extravaganza attracts lesbians from afar to come and party it up. Each April, the International Art Fair features galleries and artists on the rise. For all those jazz fans out there, the Swing 'n Dixie Jazz Festival in the spring has a versatile ensemble of jazz musicians across America.

When the heat starts kicking in the desert it can only mean one thing - jam sessions! Every Sunday in June at Melvyn's, local musicians looking to carve their own musical realm, gather to perform some of the most audibly spectacular jam sessions in all of Palm Springs. In July on Saturdays the Camelot Theatres play new films. Following the movie, the audience voices their thoughts and opinions. August introduces First Friday's - an open-house tour of all the glorious shops and quaint little stores along Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. As the summer starts cooling down, jazz aficionados will enjoy a day trip to Idyllwild for Jazz in the Pines.

During the autumn months in Palm Springs a vast array of excitement and entertainment ensues! September pays homage to tunes and classic automobiles of the 50's and 60's at Rocktoberfest. For short film enthusiasts, the International Festival of Short Films screens hundreds of short films from around the world at the illustrious Camelot Theatres. This typically allures a sizeable Hollywood persona as well. (How you do-in Jennifer Aniston?) Every October brings bikers from across the nation to the Palm Springs Motorcycle & Hot Rod Weekend. In November, one of the largest congregations in the area makes way as Palm Springs Pride invites gays, lesbians and those of all lifestyles to enjoy festive times, music and an elaborate parade. For families, the Golf Cart Parade showcases a barrage of golf carts and astounding costumes.

Cooling climates create the ideal conditions for outdoor sports, holiday gatherings and global cuisines! Celebrate the edible joys of the tamale at the International Tamale Festival held in Indio. For the holidays, the Palm Springs Convention Center has a simply wonderful Holiday Concert. Each January, the International Film Festival features an assortment of brand new films from many countries. Each January, golfers unite and swing away at the famous Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
